BAR STOCK

BAR STOCK – which is also known as slug, blank, or billet, is commonly found in raw metal form (purified), and it is useful in manufacturing of metal products and components. Owing to its diverse application, bar stock is available in various shapes and sizes. The bestselling bar stocks are round-shaped, square, rectangular, and hexagonal (hex). As far as characteristics are concerned, it is defined by “enclosed invariant convex cross-section” which means that angle stock, pipes, and objects of different diameters are not categorized as bar stock.

Bar stock processing entails sequential steps such as sawing, turning, milling, drilling and grinding after which the final product is produced. Having undergone the aforesaid series of steps, the final product is starkly different than its original form. The production process of bar stocks can be partially-automated using specialized tools and equipment.
